Dakota Software is expanding the Analytics capabilities of its NextGen platform with new dashboards for incidents, injuries, and observations. They include established KPIs, like Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART), as well as insights into Property Damage Costs and Near Miss Risk Scores

These new dashboards are presented alongside Inspection Results and Task Performance in a centralized Analytics module. While these dashboards may look familiar, they are now powered by a new analytics engine designed to be more scalable, flexible, and extensible.

This isn’t just an update—it’s the foundation for how analytics will evolve across the NextGen platform.

Better Visibility Across Safety, Compliance, and Operations

In many organizations, incidents, injuries, observations, inspections, and corrective actions are tracked in separate systems. That fragmentation makes it difficult to identify trends or understand how different types of events relate to one another.

Centralized dashboards address this directly. When signals from multiple workflows are visible together, an uptick in incidents alongside a pattern of missed inspections or overdue tasks, for example, teams can identify contributing factors earlier and take more informed action.

This gives EHS leaders and operations teams a clearer picture of performance across the full scope of their safety and compliance work.

One Place for the Insights That Matter

Analytics are now centralized in the Analytics tab. Access is automatic. Users see only the data relevant to their role and facilities, with no additional configuration required.

Each dashboard includes pre-built metrics and visualizations designed to answer key operational questions, including:

    • Inspections – Status, Completed Count, Overdue Count, Completed on time %, Pass/Fail Results, and Failed Responses by Item Type.
    • Tasks – Status, Completed Count, Overdue Count, and Completed on time %
    • Incidents (NEW!) – Total Recordable Injury/Illness, Total Reportable Releases, TRIR, DART, Property Damage Cost, Near Miss Risk Score, Incident Type Over Time, and Incident Type by Facility
    • Observations (NEW!) – Counts for Planned (BBS), Unplanned, and Recognitions, Safe/Concern Ratio, Concerns by Category, Observation Type Over Time, and Observation Type by Facility

Date Range and Facility filters provide faster access to the data your team needs without manual reporting or data preparation.

    Built for Scale and Simplicity

The new analytics framework is designed to grow with your organization. Upcoming capabilities include deeper dashboards across each module, expanded performance and compliance metrics, and drill-down tools for more detailed analysis.

As these features are introduced, they will be available to existing customers without requiring dashboard rebuilds or data migration. Flexible export options are also included, allowing teams to download and share data in multiple formats.
